WRRR Teacher Position Description

Teachers work full time for Women's Rock n Roll Retreat over the weekend of April 3rd-5th. 

They must display the following qualities:
-Enthusiasm and positivity towards the program and mission
-Agree with our Points of Unity
-The ability to lead and instruct up to 4 campers on their own
-Songwriting experience
-Proficiency on guitar, bass, drums, vocals and/or keyboard
-Must be over the age of 19

Duties before camp include:
-Check emails 1x/week to receive important camp updates
-Thoroughly learn the five camp cover songs
-Thoroughly read and understand the instrument tip-sheets
-Attend teacher orientation
-Assist in one roadie shift

Duties during camp:
-Be actively engaged in all camp activities such as skits, workshops, band rehearsals and instrument classes
-Co-lead band rehearsals as a band coach. This includes helping the band learn how to play as a group musically, helping with interpersonal communication between band members, troubleshooting gear, guiding the band through collaboration and compromise and encouraging and helping campers as they create their instrument parts
-Lead instrument instruction as an instrument coach. This includes teaching small group classes (2-3 students) using the cover songs and curriculum as a guide, troubleshooting gear, and helping campers as they create their instrument parts for their bands
-Lead 4-6 campers comfortably
-Attend pre- and post-camp meetings
-Participating in skits
-Participate in the teacher showcase on April 7th
-Respect and honor yourself, fellow staff members, students, SR2 directors, SR2 Points of Unity, SR2 equipment and our camp location building

Pay Details:
Classification: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $560/weekend (approx $15/hr)

Time Requirements

Staff Orientation:  Sunday, March 22nd from 1:30-6:30pm (location to be determined) 

Roadie Shift: April 2nd from 5:00-7:30 or 7:30-10pm OR April 5th from 7-9:30pm
Roadie shifts typically involve carrying equipment (up to 30 lbs) and setting up equipment. We also have other duties that need to be performed (creating name tags, putting up posters and schedules, labeling equipment, etc) if you cannot carry equipment. 

Camp days: April 3 (9am-7:30pm), April 4 (9:30am-7:30pm), and April 5 (9:30am-7:00pm)

Optional: WRRR campers have the option to take an additional 30 minute private lesson before and/or after camp. The time slots would be April 3rd (7:30-8:00pm), April 4th (9:00-9:30am or 7:30-8:00pm) and April 5th (9:00-9:30am). If you are interested in being one of the private instructors, please indicate so on your application. You will receive extra compensation ($15/lesson) for this time.
